Devon practices in LGWM's Architect and Engineers and Environmental Law Practice Groups. Devon's practice consists of defending architects, engineers and design builders in commercial and residential construction disputes throughout the Southeast United States. Devon also spends a substantial amount of time defending environmental tort claims on behalf of engineers, general contractors, chemical corporations, distributors, developers and general contractors in both State and Federal Court.

Prior to attending law school, Devon worked in both the healthcare and federal consulting industries. Devon worked in a variety of capacities, including: marketing, business development, corporate recruiting, and consulting to the Department of Homeland Security.

CASES OF NOTE
  • Defended Physician against claims asserted by former patient for medical malpractice. Received summary judgment dismissing all claims with prejudice on behalf of Physician.
  • Defended Child Care Facility in general liability case asserting multiple claims against it and its employees. Mediated case to successful resolution on behalf of client.
  • Defended School District and its employees in general liability case which included claims of negligence, wantonness, and negligent hiring/supervision. Successfully argued for the dismissal of all claims against School District on the theory of Constitutional immunity and conducted a successful mediation on all remaining claims against employees.
  • Successfully defended Car Dealership who allegedly sold a vehicle without properly disclosing condition of vehicle. Received a defense verdict on all claims at Arbitration.
  • Defended Supply Company against claim for workers’ compensation benefits. Through investigation was able to refute claims of employee sustaining a compensable injury on behalf of employer.
  • Defended Mining Company against claims asserted by former employee for workers’ compensation benefits. Obtained approval of settlement, including a finding that medical evidence did not establish a compensable injury and obtained closure on employee’s right to future benefits under the Act.
  • Defended Roofing Company against claims of negligent construction. Mediated case to successful resolution on behalf of Roofing Company.
  • Intervened in products liability case on behalf of workers’ compensation carrier. Obtained full recovery of carrier’s subrogation interest and negotiated a closure of future right to medical benefits.
  • Defended Owner of Apartment Complex against claims of negligence and wantonness against it and tenant stemming from injuries to minor children as a result of a dog bite. Obtained successful resolution of all claims against complex based upon its lack of knowledge prior to incident.
  • Represented Design Builders with respect to alleged negligence as to the design and construction of residential home. The case was resolved for a fraction of the alleged damages.
