John practices in LGWM's Coverage, General Liability, Ground Transportation and Professional Liability Practice Groups. For over 30 years, John has handled complex defense litigation matters with an emphasis on trucking litigation, products liability, commercial litigation, insurance coverage, and bad faith litigation. He has successfully tried numerous cases across the state of Alabama in both state and federal courts. John is an AV Preeminent-rated attorney and recognized as a Thomas Reuters' Super Lawyer in the area of insurance coverage.
In addition to John's broad litigation practice, a significant percentage of John's time is dedicated to insurance coverage matters. He represents insurers in federal and state courts and arbitration proceedings. He provides advice and counsel on a wide range of insurance policies, including general liability, business auto/trucking liability, environmental liability, directors and officers liability, and professional liability.
John is often retained to serve as appellate counsel and handle post-trial motions. He has dozens of reported decisions to his credit and has presented oral arguments at the Alabama Supreme Court and United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.
John became a member of the Alabama Bar in 1991 after graduating from the University of Alabama School of Law. He is admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit and regularly practices before all of Alabama's United States District Courts. He also is an active member of the Birmingham Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar, the American Bar Association, the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance, and the Defense Research Institute.
