Rhett practices in LGWM's Securities Law Practice Group. Rhett represents financial professionals, including accountants, registered representatives, and broker dealers in securities arbitrations and instate court claims involving allegations of sales practice violations, unsuitability, breaches of contract and misrepresentation. Prior to joining LGWM, Rhett practiced law with an insurance defense firm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There, his work included the defense of commercial motor carriers; engineers, design professionals, general contractors, subcontractors, and materials suppliers in industrial, residential, and commercial construction disputes; engineers and design professionals in public works disputes; ocean carriers in maritime disputes arising under the Carriage of Goods by Sea Act (“COGSA”); homeowners’ associations in property and casualty disputes arising from flooding events; and disputes involving public bodies, including schools. Rhett has also defended insurance carriers in first-party and third-party property and casualty claims in federal and state courts, including matters involving claims of bad faith and violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (“RICO”) by an insurer.
Represented a Materials Supplier Firm with respect to alleged acts and omissions associated with the collapse of the Hard Rock Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Represented an Engineer of Record with respect to the alleged negligent undertaking of a professional duty related to a rehabilitation project on the longest bridge in the World.
Represented an Engineer of Record with respect to the alleged wrongful termination of the general contractor for a rehabilitation project on the runway and taxiway overlay at an airport in Point Coupee Parish, Louisiana.
