Sia practices in LGWM's Workers’ Compensation Practice Group. She is a member of the Birmingham Bar Association's Workers’ Compensation Section and was an Executive Committee member of the Section from 2000 – 2014 during which time she also chaired the Section. She has years of experience conducting workers’ compensation employer training seminars and has been a featured speaker at attorney continuing legal education seminars relating to workers’ compensation law in Alabama.

  • Prevailed in Compensability trial in Madison County, Alabama. The case involved a dispute regarding whether Plaintiff gave proper notice of his alleged accident and injuries pursuant to the Alabama Workers’ Compensation Act.
  • Prevailed against an employee’s Motion to Set Aside a workers’ compensation settlement in Jefferson County, Bessemer Division, Alabama. Successfully argued that there was no just cause to set aside the settlement.
  • Prevailed in a workers’ compensation trials in Madison County, Alabama and in other counties in the state wherein the Court agreed that the employee was permanently partially disabled rather than permanently totally disabled.
  • Prevailed in a workers’ compensation trial in Marion County, Alabama wherein the Court agreed that the employee was permanently partially disabled rather than permanently totally disabled.
  • Prevailed in opposing an employee’s Motion to Reinstate Temporary Total Disability Benefits in a workers’ compensation case in Houston County, Alabama
  • Successfully resolved multiple denied workers’ compensation claims in counties, including but not limited to Mobile County, Etowah County, Jefferson County, Houston County and Dale County, Alabama.
  • Prevailed in re-opening a litigated workers’ compensation case in Marshall County, Alabama wherein the Court agreed that the employee was no longer permanently totally disabled and Ordered that disability benefits be stopped.
